King Faisal forward Samuel Adom Antwi have successfully completed a move to Rivers United during the current transfer window.
The 23-year-old footballer has secured a one-year loan deal with the Port Harcourt-based club and is expected to play a pivotal role in their upcoming matches.
Despite King Faisal’s unfortunate relegation to the Division One League after a lackluster campaign, Adom Antwi had an impressive season last term. He managed to score several crucial goals for the team, who reached the finals of the FA Cup competition but narrowly missed out on the title, losing to Dreams FC.
Rivers United, keen on strengthening their squad ahead of the upcoming CAF Confederation Cup campaign, anticipates that Adom Antwi’s addition will bolster their attacking prowess.
After a disappointing 2022/23 Ghana Premier League season, King Faisal FC, along with Tamale City and Kotoku Royals, suffered relegation to the lower-tier competition, finishing 17th.
King Faisal FC’s hopes of overturning their relegation fate were dashed when the Ghana Football Association (GFA) dismissed their protest to review the outcome of their match against Tamale City FC, which took place on May 6 at the Aliu Mahama Stadium. In that match, King Faisal FC lost 4-1 to Tamale City FC.
The club, determined to explore all options, has already lodged a petition with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in a bid to appeal the GFA Disciplinary Committee’s decision. They believed that had the committee upheld their objection, the three points gained could have significantly improved their chances of avoiding relegation.
