An engineer with Africa World Airlines (AWA) Prince Kwabena Kumi has been assaulted and allegedly shot dead in a bush near a Police checkpoint at Akyem Oda in the Eastern region.
The body was discovered after a search was mounted by his family who had gone days without hearing from him.
The deceased was enroute from Accra to Akyem Asuboa on Saturday to celebrate the Easter Holidays with his family.
According to the family, there were marks of assault and bullet wounds noticed on the body at the time of discovery through the assistance of the residents and chiefs as well as police.
The body was conveyed to the Morgue by the Police pending further investigations.
The family said they later found his car parked at the Police station looking washed up with Mobile phone of the deceased and items bought for the family still in the car.
They believe the deceased was brutalized and shot to death by the Police given that Police has not given tangible reasons why the car was impounded without detaining the deceased if he committed road traffic offense as being suggested by the Police.
A cousin of the deceased Gideon Saka says that the family will take legal action if the Police do not give them tangible explanation on his cause of death.
Meanwhile, the family has petitioned the IGP over the matter.
