Executive Secretary of the Importers and Exporters Association of Ghana, Sampson Asaki Awingobet, has stated that the Town Hall Meeting hosted by Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia should have been scheduled at a date after the State of the Nation Address (SONA).
In an interview on the Happy Morning Show aired on Happy 98.9FM, he explained: “Bawumia should have held on till when the president came to parliament to tell us the things. The vice president revealed a lot of things to us. So I don’t think I will be surprised of what the president is coming to say”.
He, however, added that the Vice President’s speech at the Town Hall meeting did not include issues pertaining to Nigeria’s border closing. He, thus, expected the President to speak on the issue.
“What I did not hear from the Vice President’s speech was the Nigerian border closing. As we speak, Nigeria is one of our biggest markets. The President should let us know what he is doing about this”, he added.
The first ever Government Town Hall Meeting themed ‘Demonstrating Fulfilment of Our Promises’ outlined the Government’s achievements in three (3) years.
The President will, however, address the nation later today as he delivers the final State of the Nation Address (SONA) for his first term.
Join the trio, Samuel Eshun, Fati Shaibu-Ali and Raymond Nyamador on Happy Morning Show every weekday (Monday to Friday) 5:30am to 9:00am.
