Ghanaian weightlifter, Christian Amoah, hopes to begin preparations just a few weeks before the start of the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.
Amoah put up a spectacular performance to clinch three silver medals at last month’s African Seniors Weightlifting Championship Olympics qualifier in Kenya.
His Olympic qualification was confirmed on Sunday by the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF).
Speaking in an interview on Wamputu Sports with Odiasempa Kwame Oware Amoah said, “I have told the authorities that I want to begin early camping. My Olympic qualification confirmation came on Sunday so things are still been put in place”.
“I normally do my camping in America but with the way things are going and the competition in July I will be comfortable to camp anywhere”.
“We have worked hard to qualify and we hope the authorities will give us the necessary support.
“They should expect the best from me and I believe something better will come”, he added.
