President Akufo-Addo has acknowledged the challenges the average Ghanaian has and has tasked a new NPP leader to bring in the solutions.
The President admitted that he was aware of the challenges the people were currently going through and that he had heard their worries.
Speaking to the media moments after casting his ballot during the New Patriotic Party’s Super Delegates Congress on August 26, he expressed confidence in the party’s ability to select a capable new leader who can steer the country out of these difficulties.
“It’s difficult, I’m the first to admit it. I have said it several times, but at the end of the day I believe when the moment comes, the light will reflect on a new person to get us out of this difficulty,” he said.
President Akufo-Addo emphasized that the NPP government possesses a robust track record of notable achievements aimed at addressing the concerns of the Ghanaian populace. He expressed his conviction that following the Super Delegates Congress, the party would unite behind the new leader who will subsequently lead them into the 2024 elections.
“We’ll have a good record to defend, and we will have some significant achievements which will address the concerns of the Ghanaian people. I’m very confident that we are going to the elections in 2024 with good standing.”
President Akufo-Addo made it clear that he has not officially endorsed any candidate in the ongoing elections. He revealed that he has, however, been approached by campaign leaders requesting his endorsement for their respective aspirants. Nonetheless, he emphasized that the ultimate decision lies with the party’s delegates.
“There are some who are calling for me to endorse their candidates. I haven’t endorsed anybody. The election is not mine. I don’t decide it, it’s the delegates in our party who decide,” he stressed.
