Baba Gedo, former Amidaus Professionals Chief and football administrator, has lashed out at the government- Minstry of Youth and Sports, accusing them of neglecting the local football scene.
“The Government of Ghana is the cause of the poor state of our football and sports in the country. They only care about the World Cup. If NDC comes into power, you’d hear we qualified for the World Cup twice; NPP will also say the same – bagging rights. I’d just blame the Government and no one else,” Gedo declared passionately in a fiery interview on Happy FM.
Gedo’s critique centers on what he perceives as the government’s prioritization of international success over the development and support of the local league.
He alleges that political administrations are more concerned with the prestige associated with World Cup qualifications than addressing fundamental issues within the domestic football structure.
The football administrator’s remarks underscore a broader sentiment within the local football community, where concerns about inadequate investment, infrastructure, and support for grassroots football have been recurring.
