Chief Superintendent A.G Kumah of Tarkwa Police Command, has confirmed to Happy 98.9FM that the two fans currently in the grips of the Police are Karela United fans based in Tarkwa.
The duo, David Yankey and Jonathan Essien were arrested in Tarkwa for their involvement in the assault incident involving Medeama SC at the Crosby Awuah Memorial Park in Ayinese on Sunday.
According to Chief Superintendent, the two fans were arrested after being fished out by some supporters and management of Medeama.
“It is true we have arrested two people who are alleged to be involved in the assault incident at Ayinese on Sunday. We received information that some Karela United fans attacked Medeama officials and players during their FA Cup game”.
“In our preliminary investigations seven people involved in the incident are based in Tarkwa, but they are Karela fans. We have arrested two of them. The seven of them are Nzema people and they reside in Wassa which is where Medeama SC is located.

“There was a game between Medeama and Karela United at the Akoon Park which resulted in some chaos and this seems to be a retaliation for what happened”
He said the two arrested will be transferred to Ayinese where the incident took place.
“David Yankey and Jonathan Essien are the two people to have been arrested. They will be transferred to Ayinese where the incident took place so we the Tarkwa Police cannot deal with this situation unless Ayinese”.
