Member of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) national communication team Nana Kay has posited that the town hall meeting held by the vice president today was not a publicity stunt by the party to tout their achievements but to inform and educate Ghanaians.

Speaking on Happy98.9FM’s Epa Hoa Daben, the astute member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) when asked if the town hall meeting held was important for the party to tout their achievements so far, he answered, “We didn’t waste productive time to tout our achievements. Rather, what we did today is a hallmark of good governance and nothing less than that.”

According to him, the town hall meeting was to highlight the progress the party has made so far ever since it came to power and inform Ghanaians of things they would otherwise not have known. “You may be in Accra and may have never heard the work the government is doing in a village somewhere. And this is the essence of the town hall meeting.”

The Government Town-Hall Meeting, led by Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia which took place at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) today has come under intense criticism by opposition.

They claim the event was to tout the achievements of the sitting government and was just a waste of national resources and productivity.

The town hall meeting saw guests from civil society groups, academia, political parties and the general public, all turn up in their numbers. The town hall meeting themed ‘Demonstrating Fulfillment of Our Promises’ outlined the Government’s achievements in three (3) years.
