Former President John Dramani Mahama has sent well wishes to the Black Stars of Ghana as they start their Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) campaign today against Benin at the Ismailia Sports Stadium in Group F.
The former president took to his Facebook page to wish the Senior National Soccer team best of luck saying “The time has come to break the jinx of AFCON.”
“The time has come to break the jinx of AFCON. 37-year long wait!
Let us all support our stars with our hearts and prayer.
Go for it, our gallant Black Stars!,” Mahama wrote on his Facebook page.
Akufo-Addo in Egypt to support Black Stars
In a related development, President Nana Akufo-Addo is in Egypt to watch the Black Stars opening game against Benin.
The President met the players and officials of the team on Monday night after he arrived in the country to motivate them ahead of the match later on Tuesday.
