The Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Ghana on Tuesday, September 26 was adorned with an exquisite makeover to suit the celebration of 74 years after the official endorsement of the East Asian country as the People’s Republic of China.

The function gathered many distinguished individuals from all parts of the world and delivered an astute fusion of Chinese heritage and rich Ghanaian culture. These synergistic moves appreciated the strong diplomatic bond between the People’s Republic of China and the Republic of Ghana.

Chinese Ambassador to Ghana His Excellency LU Kun expressed his elation of having Ghana host this year’s celebrations. While speaking on the transformation established by the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, he acknowledged the centenary of the CPC, a new era of socialism with Chinese characteristics, and the eradication of poverty by lifting 100 million rural residents above poverty line, thus meeting the targets of the United Nations SDG 10 years ahead of schedule.

China does not stand idly but strengthens cooperation with others to jointly build a community with a shared future for mankind.”

The People’s Republic of China has invested heavily into Ghana’s development ever since the establishment of diplomatic relations on July 5, 1960. With 63 years of bolstering diplomatic ties, Ghana recognizes China as its largest trading partner and valued partner in business and commerce.

These facts were confirmed by the Minister for Finance and Economic Planning of Ghana, Ken Ofori Atta with testaments of China’s exceptional contribution to Ghana’s development over the years. He reiterated that China remains a dependable partner in Ghana’s socio-economic development over the years.

Recalling the genesis of diplomatic ties between the two countries, he said, ” the establishment of relations between our two countries dating back to the 1960s and spearheaded by our founding fathers Chairman Mao Zedong Premier Zhou Enlai and Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah over 63 years ago. This over the years, has culminated into a number of mutually beneficial initiatives such as China-Ghana friendship treaty, high level visits and technical and financial supports extended to Ghana. It is my fervent hope and desire that successive anniversaries will result in further strengthening the friendship and corporation which further exists between the two countries.”
