A teacher with the Ghana Education Service (GES) has been killed in an armed robbery attack at Walewale in the West Mamprusi Municipality of the North East Region, popular blogsite, MyNewsGh.com has reported.
The teacher, Gifty Atingawaya, was said to be returning with her husband from Nalerigu in the West Mamprusi District when they were attacked by the criminals at Tinguri, a farming community close to Walewale.
The report says the vehicle on which they were traveling was being driven by the man when the suspected robbers shot into it to kill the woman instantly.
Two other occupants onboard the attacked vehicle escaped unhurt.
Police in the area are said to have mounted a search for the criminals.
The Walewale-Nalerigu road is noted for series of robbery attacks that have claimed the lives of many who ply that route.
It would be recalled that earlier this year, Joseph Migal Jinjer, a senior staff of the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) was murdered by unknown assailants while traveling to his hometown
Joseph Migal Jinjer was traveling to Bunkpurugu District when he was stopped by the hoodlums in the night who after barricading the road with pieces of wood, pulled him out of his cross-country vehicle and shot him to death.
It is gathered that he was taken to the Walewale Government Hospital but pronounced dead on arrival.
