The Table Tennis National Open Championship has been scheduled for June 19, 2021, in Koforidua.
Isaac Opoku, the organizer for the Table Tennis Open Championship says he is organizing the event to ensure Ghana gets another star to compete at the Olympic Games.
Opoku, is the first Ghanaian athlete to play the sport at the Olympic Games.
According to the table tennis Olympian, the sport has declined in the country and there is the need to revive it in the country.
“It is almost 25 years since I attended the Olympic Games and there hasn’t been anybody to play at the Olympics.
“I don’t want to be the first and last Olympian to play in the sport. I am doing this to bring out new talents who can also go for the Games”, he told Odiasempa Kwame Oware on Happy 98.9FM.
“The Championship is for the whole nation and it is aimed at lifting Ghana Table Tennis to a different level”, he added.
