Sudan: RSF executes revenge plot after high-ranking officer defects

At least 25 lives have been claimed by the latest attacks of Paramilitary Rapid Support Forces attacks on villages in Eastern Sudan’s El Gizera state on Tuesday after an unexpected defection by high-ranking officer Abuagla Keikal.

The former RSF senior officer is believed to come from the area as cited by activists.

Credible news sources confirmed that soldiers from other RSF divisions ransacked the farming state , where Keikal’s local forces in December had held incursions into east Gezira at bay, sparing civilians the worst of the violence while imposing control on the area.

Abuagla Keikal’s defection on Sunday resulted in large numbers of RSF soldiers streaming into the region, killing the army commander with 370 other soldiers. Activists described the move as a structured revenge which has led to displacement, looting and killings.
