An Electoral Commission official has been arrested for allegedly taking a picture of his vote cast in the Bimbilla Constituency of the Northern Region.
The temporal Electoral Commission official, identified as Gerti Justice was arrested on December 2, 2024 upon a concern raised by NDC agents who were present at the polling station.
According to the Progressive People’s Party Parliamentary Candidate, Atta Napari Suale, the Electoral Commission official admitted after police interrogation.
After Justice admitted to taking photos of his ballot paper, a consensus was reached for his name to be omitted from the list of officials on duty.
The EC official was released after extensive discussions.
However, the NDC Agent who was not in support of the idea of releasing the EC official requested that he must face the law hence his arrest.
