Charles Bissue, a former secretary to the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining (IMCIM), has been listed as wanted by the Office of Special Prosecutor (OSP).
On June 13, 2023, the OSP posted a notice on social media stating that Bissue is wanted in relation to his participation in the disbanded IMCIM.
This declaration comes after Bissue failed to respond to an invitation from the Special Prosecutor to appear and provide answers regarding an ongoing investigation into suspected corruption within the dissolved IMCIM.
The notice, titled “Wanted by the OSP,” includes a photograph of Charles Bissue along with his full name, Charles Cromwell Nanabayin Onuawonto Bissue.
According to the OSP, Bissue is wanted for alleged corruption-related offences related to the activities and expenditure of the dissolved IMCIM.
These offences include “corruption-related offences regarding the activities and expenditure of the dissolved Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining (IMCIM), especially in respect of the seizure and management of excavators, machinery, road vehicles, and gold nuggets; and use of public office for profit.”
