Justice Nicholas MC Abodakpi of the Human Rights Court 2 in Accra following an application by the lawyers of Charles Bissue made an order for interim injunction restraining the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) from, inter alia, publishing notices purporting that former Presidential Staffer Charles Cromwell Nanabanyin Onuawonto Bissue is wanted.
The OSP and its agents or assigns are prohibited from carrying out the arrest warrant issued for Mr. Bissue.
The warrant was issued on Tuesday, June 13 following refusal by lawyers of the former Secretary to the dissolved Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining (IMCIM) to appear before the osp.
The former Western Region Secretary for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Charles Bissue, had filed a lawsuit to get documentation supporting the OSP’s invitation to him in connection with the investigation of corruption and acts connected to corruption in the illicit mining industry.
This is to be in force pending the determination of the substantive matter.
The case was adjourned to Thursday, June 22.
