Speaker’s continuous swearing was decided by Supreme Court-Balado-Manu

A member of the communications team of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Stephen Baladu -Manu says until the Supreme Court decides otherwise, the Speaker of Parliament will continue swearing as the acting president anytime the president and his are out of the jurisdiction.
The former Member of Parliament (MP) for Ahafo Ano South in the Ashanti Region said the Supreme Court has already taken a decision on matter when Doe Ajaho was the Speaker of fourth Parliament.
According to him, the Speaker will continue to be sworn –in as the acting president anytime the two powerful gentlemen of the land are out of the jurisdiction because it i embedded in the Constitution.
Mr. Balado-Manu made this comment on the ‘Epa Hoa Daben’ show hosted by Kwame Afrifa-Mensah when he appeared as a panelist on Accra-based Happy FM.
He noted that until the Supreme Court takes a decision on the Speaker of Parliament will continue to be sworn in anytime the president and his vice are out of town, it will remain so.
He explained the situation will remain so until Ghanaians decides that aspects of the Constitution be taken out going forward.
This can only be done by way of referendum he stressed.
