Ghana winger Solomon Asante recorded a centenary of appearances for USL side Phoenix Rising in their 1-0 win over San Diego Loyal SC in the Championship on Saturday at the Torero Stadium.
James Musa shot the league leaders ahead in the 10th minute, connecting from Kevon Lambert’s effort to score from a close range.
Solomon Asante nearly extended the lead for Phoenix Rising in the 30th minute, but his excellent curled shot from the edge of the penalty area flashed just over the top-left corner of the net.
The win marked Phoenix Rising’s second against their hosts in the fourth and final meeting of the regular season between the Pacific Division contenders and thus increased their lead on the table [29 points] to seven points over second-placed Orange County SC on 22 points.
