Deputy coach of Asante Kotoko Akakpo Patron has expressed his concern about the fitness of Sogne Yacouba ahead of their CAF Confederation Cup campaign.
The goal poacher fell sick whiles on holidays in his home country, Burkina Faso, and has been on treatment since arriving in Kumasi last week.
The 26-year-old has been cleared by the medical team of the club but yet to join his colleagues in training as they continue their preparations for the CAF second-tier club competition.
“He is a key figure for our Africa campaign who we will need,” Coach Patron told Oyerepa FM.
“We pray he recovers very fast as he started running.”
Meanwhile, the former Ghanaian champions were handed a walkover victory in the preliminary round of the Caf Confederation Cup after Cameroonian Football Association failed to meet the deadline to present their representatives for the competition.
This means that the Kumasi based side will now play the winner between Kariobangi Sharks of Kenya and ARTA Solar of Djiobouti in the first round.
The first leg has been scheduled between December 14 and 16.
