Director – General of the State Interests and Governance Authority (SIGA), Ambassador Edward Boateng, has highlighted the authority’s interest in collaboration for progress among SOEs in Ghana.
He said this at the 2nd edition of the Public Enterprises League Table (PELT) awards, which was held at the Accra International Conference Centre.
Amb. Boateng urged all Chief Executive Officers and Managing Directors to engage with each other and share ideas on how to progress in their respective sectors. “SOEs must be ready to interact with each other; we must be able to also interact with various successful SOEs that are in line with your various sectors even beyond the shores of Ghana.”
In a bid to enhance performance of specified entities in Ghana, Amb. Boateng earlier this year, spearheaded a 30-member delegation on a six day study tour to Beijing, China to share ideas and strategies in the management of State-Owned Enterprises.
The diplomat emphatically expressed his interest in SOEs helping one another within the various sectors to make strides and expand their market territory beyond the shores of Ghana. “How great would it be to have a Ghana based SOE with markets in Rwanda and other African neighboring countries; if the Western countries can do it, I believe we can also do it.”
The 2nd edition of the Public Enterprises League Table (PELT) awards on the theme ‘Building the Economic Highway’ was organized by the State Interests and Governance Authority in partnership with the Public Enterprises Secretariat and the Ministry of Finance. The event recognizes and honors the most outstanding Specified Entities based on key metrics as defined by the Public Financial Management Regulatory 2019 (L.I. 2378).
