Sierra Leone appoints Sellas Tetteh as national team Head Coach

Ex-Black Starlets coach, Sellas Tetteh has been appointed by the Sierra Leone Football Association Head Coach Recruitment Committee as the Head Coach of the National Senior Team (Leone Stars).

“After a thorough interview process by the Sierra Leone Football Association Head Coach Recruitment Committee and based on scores earned by the various candidates, the Executive Committee of the Football Association wishes to announce to the general public and the football family the appointment of Mr. Sellas Tetteh Teivi as the Head Coach of the National Senior Team (Leone Stars),” statement from the FA said.

The Ghanaian football technician is mandated to appoint his backroom coaching staff.
“The newly appointed coach is expected to assume office and take up his duties within the next 48 hours. Please know that it is the responsibility of Mr. Tetteh, as Head Coach, to appoint his backroom coaching staff,” the statement added.

Out of a total of seven local and five foreign coaches, four of the foreign applicants, with the exception of Mr. Tetteh, were interviewed online.

The other coaches include a Dutch, a Serbian, a Spanish and an Englishman.
Interviews for local applicants were conducted on Thursday, August 8, while interviews for the foreign coaches were done on Saturday, August 10.

Tetteh, a former coach of the Ghanaian Under 17 and Under 23 teams, has served as Leone Stars coach between 2015 and 17. 

He has also coached the Rwandan national side.
