Shatta Wale has often faced criticism for the ‘asorkpor’ or ‘jama’ kind of music he churns out year in and year out. And this has become the yardstick with which people measure him relative to Stonebwoy.
However, sending a message to his critics, the “Taking Over” hitmaker said his style is basically for commercial purposes and not tuned to people’s opinion.
According to him, Africans do not have love for real Dancehall music and therefore his approach when producing songs for the African market differs from that which he produces for the International audience.
He wrote:
THIS NO BE HYPE !! AGO FIT PLAY ASOKPOR CUZ THATS WHAT YOUR PARENTS KNOW. DANCEHALL IS FOR THE YOUTH AND YOUR FAVOURITES LEARNT SOMETHING FROM ME.. I CAN DO WHAT AFRICA NEEDS AND ALSO DO IT FOR VYBZ KARTEL AND BUJU BANTON
