Seven out of the 53 Democracy Hub protesters facing trial have been discharged by the state, following their appearance in court on Monday.
This development comes after 19 of the protesters, who were previously released from custody, returned to court for proceedings.
The discharged individuals include Kingsley Adiedu, Seth Cofie, Gloria Louis, Nii Quaye Hammond, Manuel Biney, Joseph Dorsese, and Ernest Acheampong. State attorneys announced the discontinuation of their trial and confirmed that a second batch of disclosures had been filed.
The legal team also indicated that witness statements would be submitted at the next hearing, which the court has scheduled for November 21, 2024.
Meanwhile, the remaining protesters will continue to face trial as the case progresses over the coming weeks.
