Prime Minister of Senegal, Ousmane Sonko has put together a team of experts as a committee to review oil and gas contracts signed by the country with international partners.
The Prime Minister made the announcement of the committee in engagements with local media, emphasizing the capabilities of these legal, tax and energy sector experts under his able leadership to ensure the efficient examination of all contracts the country has secured.
Senegal since the discovery of significant offshore reserves discovered in 2010, has actively been involved in several multi-national oil and gas projects.
According to Sonko, the committee will ensure transparency and the prioritization of the nation’s interest as the nation’s engages more international bodies – most recent being between Sangomar Oil and Australia’s Woodside Energy that officially produced its first oil in June this year.
