The Presidential Candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama has assured Ghanaians that the next NDC administration will work to rebuild the economy and restore stability.
He criticized the current New Patriotic Party (NPP) government for failing to fulfill its promises and called for their removal from power to enable the country’s progress.
Addressing chiefs and residents of Wassa Jakpa in the Amenfi East Constituency of the Western Region, Mr. Mahama outlined plans to implement policies aimed at regulating small-scale mining to protect the environment. He noted that small-scale mining is a global practice and can be managed sustainably in Ghana.
He also highlighted the plight of cocoa farmers, noting that they were better supported under the previous NDC government through free access to fertilizers and other resources. According to him, the NPP’s policies have destroyed the cocoa sector, but the NDC plans to revive it by reintroducing favorable policies. These he revealed includes paying cocoa farmers cash for their produce alongside bonuses to strengthen the cocoa industry and improve farmers’ livelihoods.
