Actress and screen goddess, Selly Gally with Belinda Dzatta have beaten 11 other celebrities
to emerge winners of eTV Ghana’s celebrity cooking competition to climax a week-long celebration of Ghanaian food as part of the Made in Ghana Month activities.
Held at the fore court of eTV Ghana, Selly and her mate cooked peppered snail as their starter, ‘Ewo Kple and Fetri desti (okro soup), a delicacy from the Volta Region as their main dish and completed the three-course meal with ‘nkatie cake’, a popular Ghanaian peanut and sugar dessert.
Each of the contesting celebrities brought on board passion, high energy kitchen and the thrill of a timed competition.
Gari Pinor nicknamed ‘gari jollof’ was the main dish of the second-placed team led by DJ Advicer host of Happy FM’s ‘Ayekoo After Drive’ show and Feli Nuna, a Ghanaian musician. They paired the ‘Pinor’ with Goat pepper soup as their starter and ‘Atadwe Milk’ a Ghanaian indigenous pudding made with tiger nut.
Vicky Zugah, an actress and Mercy Bee, a producer at Happy FM also prepared another popular dish from the Volta Region of Ghana, Banku and ‘B)bi Tardi’. Their starter was ‘Kelewele’ and the dessert was sweet banana and pawpaw smoothie.
The other participating celebrities were Ephraim, a musician and Live Inside win the Ride winner, Eyram Holyfa, Abena Ruthie, a gospel musician and Akosua Hanson of YFM.
The last but not the least were Xandy Kamel and Foster Romanus.
Programmes Manager of of e.TV Ghana, Mrs. Nosisa Doe speaking at the side-lines of the cooking contest expressed her gratitude to the e.TV Ghana team, the celebrities and the viewers at home who joined the live telecast on e.TV Ghana and on social media.
‘’The life of every event is the people, and when people work this hard to give life to a concept, you have to be grateful for that. This is the seventh edition of Made in Ghana Month and this week was dedicated to celebrating Ghanaian food with the cooking competition being the climax of the eat Ghana week’’ she said.
She also commended Promasidor for their continuous support for the Made in Ghana Month.
‘’Promasidor supported us for this year’s competition and as always the relationship between the two brands has been fruitful’’ she stated.
The celebrities were judged by three personalities, Emmanuel Akrumah, Programmes Manager at Happy FM, Fati Shaibu Ali, coordinator of E-Academy and Beatrice Baiden a former news editor of e.TV Ghana on Timelines, cleanliness and Taste.
The e.TV Ghana Made in Ghana Month was successfully launched on the 5th of September, 2019. The first week of the Made in Ghana Month was dedicated to the celebration of Ghanaian music.
The third week starting from 16th September to 21st September 2019 e. TV Ghana will air a documentary about authentic Ghanaian fashion designers and their works to give viewers an idea about the range of fashion accessories that are produced here in Ghana.
