Assemblyman for the Kyeikrom Electoral Area, Divine Todzo, has asserted that cocoa farmers in Sefwi Bekwai in the West Northern Region of Ghana were pleased with the value at which Genser Company priced their farms for destruction.
According to him, he suspects no foul play on the part of Genser Energy Ghana Limited (‘GEGL’).

Speaking to Happy FM’s Don Prah on the ‘Epa Hoa Daben’ show, he expressed: “As at now, nobody is privy to the compensation package and that is why we can’t say if the deal is good or not. I won’t say Genser cheated the farmers. I will say the farmers were pleased with the amount given them”.
Divine believes that the problem between Genser and the farmers is a lack of communication. He, thus, assures that he will work with the farmers to ensure the issue is resolved.
In the recent edition of Happy FM’s ‘Epa Hoa Daben’ Inside Story’ Cocoa Series, reports had it that Genser Energy Ghana Limited (‘GEGL’) which provides distributed power generation solutions in Ghana to multinational industrial and mining companies seeks to take lands of cocoa farmers in Wassa to expand their business.

The Sefwi Bekwai Cocoa Cooperative Union accused Genser Energy Ghana Limited (‘GEGL’) of trying to forcefully push them out of their lands without any consultations and negotiations.
Meanwhile, the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) has recommended to cocoa farmers in Sefwi Bekwai to temporarily hold off on signing any standard form F document presented to them by Genser Energy Ghana Limited (‘GEGL’).
