The Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Dakoa Newman, has announced that the Ghana School Feeding Programme will transition from a manual system to a data-driven system starting from the 2024/25 academic year. This change aims to enhance the programme’s efficiency and effectiveness.

At a press briefing in Accra on Thursday, August 8, Dakoa Newman explained that caterers interested in participating in the programme will be required to register online, providing detailed information about themselves. This initiative will initially be piloted in the Krachi East District and New Juaben South Constituency before being rolled out nationwide.

The new system seeks to address previous issues, such as unpaid arrears to caterers and inconsistencies in registration. To participate, individuals must meet specific requirements, including online registration with a fee of Ghc 200, a health certificate, business registration certificate, and a minimum of Ghc 5,000 in a bank account or mobile money wallet as a business setup amount. The Ministry believes this initiative will significantly improve the School Feeding Programme.
