Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Member of Parliament for the North Tongu Constituency, has emphasized the significance of the #OccupyBOGDemo protest organized by the minority caucus in Parliament.

Speaking to the press, at the Obra Spot, he said “Today’s national leaders show little concern for the citizens and prioritize their personal comfort. Just look at the way they manage things – the National Cathedral, which is the world’s most expensive pit; they are causing harm to our country.”

Ablakwa further lamented the high level of corruption and mismanagement of resources by the siting government, stating, “Their inability to fulfill promises made to the people of Ghana, coupled with bad leadership, corruption, and abysmal performance, is why the youth of Ghana are rising up to protest. This government must be voted out, and they should be investigated and prosecuted by the office of the special prosecutor.”

As the demonstration gained momentum, Ablakwa’s words resonated with the protesters, who saw this event as a significant step toward achieving a more accountable and just financial system for Ghana. The Minority caucus made it clear that their fight for a better Ghana had only just begun.
