Sammy Gyamfi blasts government for mismanagement and waste amid GH¢500 million Contingency Fund request

National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi has raised concern about the government’s priorities in managing the country.

He has criticized the Finance Minister’s request to withdraw GH¢500 million from the Contingency Fund, calling it a sign of the administration’s mismanagement.

Sammy Gyamfi argued that the government’s focus on corruption, waste, and empty promises, rather than effective economic and agricultural management, has led to the country’s current state of decline.

This criticism follows the Ministry’s request to the Finance Committee of Parliament for the funds to address the potential impacts of drought affecting eight regions.

The Ministry explained that it cannot meet the President’s directive to provide GH¢8.36 billion solely through reallocating existing budget lines for 2024.

Responding to this Sammy Gyamfi in a Facebook post on Wednesday August 28, 2024, highlighted that this is the same government that spent $58 million (GH¢928 million) on what he described as the world’s largest pit under the pretext of building a cathedral. He accused the administration of squandering taxpayer money on unnecessary luxuries, such as renting private jets for the President, and other frivolous expenditures at the presidency.

After prioritizing corruption, waste and empty sloganeering over prudent management of the economy and the agriculture sector, this how low the failed NPP government has sunk our dear country.

Our dear nation has been rendered bankrupt such that today, the government cannot even afford GHS500 million to address the imminent food crises the nation is faced with.

This is the same government that spent a whopping $58 million (GHS928 million) on creating the biggest pit in the world under the guise of building a cathedral.

Against wise counsel, they wasted millions of taxpayers money on the rental of luxury private jets so the President could bath in the skies. They squandered millions of taxpayers money on other useless expenditures at the Presidency like there was no tomorrow.

Today the chickens have come to roost.

This is how low we have sunk as a country after all the sweet mouth-watering rhetorics about “One Village one Dam”. This is how low we have sunk after the NPP government spent a colossal GHS3 billion on their much-touted “Planting for Food and Jobs” program.

Oh what a shame; what a disgrace!
Cry, my beloved Ama Ghana, cry!!!!
