Egypt international Mohamed Salah has been nominated for the Best FIFA Player of the Year award alongside teammates Virgil van Dijk and Sadio Mane.
FIFA have announced the official 10-man shortlist for The Best Fifa Men’s Player of the Year award, which was selected by a panel of Fifa legends.
Last year’s award was won by Luka Modric ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo, with Mohamed Salah coming third.
The Liverpool winger managed to make the list for the second year in a row after winning the Premier League top scorer award and guiding his club to a historic Champions League title.
Club teammates Sadio Mane and Premier League Player of the Year Virgil van Dijk were also among the nominees alongside former Ajax duo Frenkie de Jong and Matthijs de Ligt.
Tottenham striker Harry Kane, Real Madrid’s Eden Hazard and PSG star Kylian Mbappe also made the list.
As usual, five-time Ballon d’Or winners Messi and Ronaldo were also included in the list, unlike Luka Modric, who has missed out on a nomination.
The award winner will be revealed at The Best FIFA Football Awards show in Milan on 23 September.
Fans will have the chance to vote for their top three players and the result of this vote will then be combined with the votes of “other key members of the footballing community”, journalists and national team coaches and captains.
