The Republican National Committee kicks off its convention today in Milwaukee to formally nominate Donald Trump as their GOP presidential candidate for a third time.

Trump’s choice of a running mate is also expected to be announced during the four-day convention.

The GOP gathering comes just days after the attempted assassination of Trump at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania. See how the deadly shooting that injured the former president unfolded.

President Joe Biden on Sunday condemned the attempted assassination and called on Americans “to lower the temperature in our politics.” Biden also ordered an independent review of security measures at the rally. He’s set to participate in an interview tonight with NBC News.
