The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has been ordered by an Accra High Court to return Cecilia Dapaah’s money within seven days.
After the OSP seized her assets, the former sanitation minister found herself embroiled in a judicial battle. The court, however, reversed this decision and ordered the OSP to give Madam Cecilia Dapaah’s money back to her.
Following the discovery that Madam Dapaah was keeping more than $1 million in her home, the OSP opened a corruption and corruption-related offense investigation.
The Office of the Special Prosecutor conducted a thorough investigation of the minister’s residences following the shocking disclosure of stolen monies by her domestic staff. This was due to the astronomical amounts that were allegedly stolen.
Startling details later emerged from the Office of the Special Prosecutor, that a substantial sum of US$590,000 in cash was unearthed during the search conducted at the Abelemkpe residence of the former Minister.
Concurrently, an astounding amount of GHC2.730,000 in cash was also discovered at the same address.
The Special Prosecutor took immediate action, seizing these substantial cash sums as crucial evidence to support the ongoing investigation.
