Restoring peace to Bawku is my top priority – Mahama

President John Mahama has reiterated his commitment to restoring peace in Bawku, emphasizing that it remains a top priority for his administration.

During a visit to Bawku on Tuesday, January 14, President Mahama assured residents that his government is determined to resolve the conflict and establish lasting stability in the area.

He acknowledged the hardships residents have faced over the past three years, living in fear and uncertainty due to the ongoing conflict. Reflecting on the peaceful period during his previous administration, he vowed to restore that harmony and foster development in the region.

To accelerate efforts, the President announced that appointments for key security-related ministerial positions will be finalized within the week.

“We are putting in place the various appointments so that we can have ministers and other officials responsible for security to take charge. Within this week, we will appoint the Minister of Defense, Minister of Interior, National Security Advisor, National Security Coordinator, BNI Director, and others. Once these appointments are made, I will charge them to make Bawku one of their top priorities,” he said.

President Mahama also urged the residents to exercise patience and restraint as his government works diligently to address the situation.
