Nigerian gospel singer and songwriter, Moses Bliss has spoken against the gradual shift of Merry Christmas to Happy Xmas as the conventional motto for the festive season.
The ‘Too Faithful’ hitmaker in a post made on his Facebook page stated that the season goes beyond enjoyment and merrymaking but is a significant period set aside to remember Jesus Christ. “Christmas is around the corner, remember , it is Happy Christmas not Happy Xmas; There is no relationship between ‘CH’ and ‘X’. Don’t say it doesn’t matter because I am sure you wouldn’t like your name to be replaced with ‘X’; Christ is not X.”
He added that the introduction of the phrase, Xmas is a deliberate indoctrination to extinguish the reason for the season which in hand fails to bring the name Christ to the minds of people. “X is always negative and unknown and it represents error, unwanted, bad, failure, wrong, danger, and the likes and moreover, X has no relationship with ‘CH’ that is Christ.” he explained.
The ace musician called on all followers of Christ to uphold the name of Christ and encouraged all his followers to share and enlighten others on the matter. “Let’s not join our enemies in removing Christ from His Mass – Christmas; it is Christ-ian not X-tian; do not wish me or anyone ‘season’s greetings as some people/companies wrongly do this period; Christ is the reason for the season not harmattan.”
