Egyptian referee, Ibrahim Nour El Din has been appointed as the referee for Asante Kotoko’s CAF Champions League final knockout round second leg tie against Etoile Sportive du Sahel in Tunisia.
The 40-year old will be assisted on the lines by compatriots, Tahssen Abo El Sadat Bedyer, Ahmed Hossameldin Taha and fourth referee, Mohamed Adel Elsaid Hussein. The Commissioner will be Sudanese Mamoun Bushara Nasir.
Coach Kjetil Zachariassen’s Porcupines are one step closer to clinching a berth in the Champions League group stage for the first time since 2011 after a 2-0 win over Etoile du Sahel in the first leg game in Kumasi last Sunday.
The first match was handled by Liberian, Hassen Corneh who boldly denied the Porcupines two clear penalty appeals aside not acting strict enough to stop the visitors’ persistent match delay tactics.
Ibrahim Nour El Din is one of the top referees in the Egyptian Premier League. The Cairo-born referee was an Assistant Referee before becoming a middle man. He made his league debut as a referee in 2011 and received his FIFA badge in 2014.
The return leg is scheduled for 17h00 on September 29, 2019, at the Stade Olympique de Sousse in Tunisia, with the Porcupines needing at least a draw or 1-0 loss to clinch the qualification.
