Ghana beat Czech 2-0 to record first World Cup win

On this day 17 June 2006 (Exactly 14 years ago today) Ghana pulled off the biggest upset of the 2006 FIFA World Cup by recording their first victory over the second ranked team on the FIFA/Coca -Cola World Ranking, Czech Republic 2-0 at the RheinEnergiestadion in Cologne, Germany.

Asamoah Gyan scored Ghana’s first ever-goal at the tournament just 70 seconds into the game.

Sulley Muntari secured the win for the Black Stars in the second half to see the West African side picking their first win in the competition.
