Member of Parliament (MP) for Kumbungu Constituency in the Northern Region, Ras Mubarak, has called on the government to increase public education on preventive measures against COVID-19.
According to him, just as established brands do advertisements to reinforce purchase decisions so should government heighten education on COVID-19.

Speaking in an interview with Doctar Cann on Happy98.9FM’s ‘Epa Hoa Daben’ show, the politician said, “Education should be continued and intensified if we want the ordinary Ghanaian to regard preventive measures against COVID-19”.
He noted that the government and other institutions are doing well to educate citizens via text messages and other mediums.
In his opinion however, most Ghanaians may neither have access to smart phones, radios nor may be literate enough to read including the few with smart phones. “We can have drama skits in market places in addition to these mediums of educating the public on COVID-19 preventive measures. These skits can be in the various local dialects”, he suggested.
Noting that “a picture speaks a thousand words” . Ras Mubarak called on government to also invest in Bill Boards. He pointed out that a simple picture message can send a lot of information and education than what is heard on radio or seen on TV.

He advised Ghanaians to come together and support the government in the fight against the COVID-19 especially as the President has lifted the lockdown.
