President Akufo-Addo has tasked Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) to protect equipment given to them under the DRIP program.
The President on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, launched the District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP) as part of efforts to decentralize road infrastructure projects.
The programme that was funded through the District Assemblies’ Common Fund will provide equipment such as Caterpillars, Bulldozers, and Concrete mixers to help them improve road networks.
Speaking at the launch of the event held at the Black Star Square, President Akufo-Addo urged them to protect the equipment and ensure proper maintenance.
“By giving out the resources to the MMDAs, we are encouraging a sense of ownership and responsibility to protect these projects to last longer,” President Akufo-Addo said.
He added that the project is just not about roads but to improve the quality of life for all Ghanaians.
