Private legal practitioner, Nana Adjei Baffour Awuah has emerged victorious in the parliamentary primary for the Manhyia North Constituency of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on Sunday, July 14.
He secured 376 votes, defeating Nana Owusu Prempeh, the brother of the outgoing MP, who received 141 votes. Akwasi Coker Gyambibi and James Owusu, the other candidates, garnered 2 and 7 votes respectively.
The election was necessitated by the selection of Manhyia South MP Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh as the running mate to NPP flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
Initially, five candidates picked up forms to contest, but only four received approval to contest the primary.
