Prez Mahama vows to fix Free SHS challenges

President John Dramani Mahama has assured Ghanaians that the Free Senior High School (SHS) programme will not be cancelled but rather improved through better implementation.

Delivering the State of the Nation Address to Parliament on Thursday, President Mahama emphasized his commitment to addressing the challenges faced by the programme.

“I, John Dramani Mahama, President of the Republic of Ghana, will not cancel the free SHS programme. I am determined to make it better by improving its implementation,” he asserted.

In a bid to eliminate the double-track system, the President announced plans for accelerated school infrastructure development. To fund this initiative, the Education and Finance Ministries will work together to uncap the GETFund for secondary school projects.
