Prez Akufo-Addo is losing popularity – NDC reacts to boos at Global Citizen Festival

National Youth Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), George Opare Addo, has advised the ruling government to re-examine itself, rather than pointing accusing fingers at them.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo was booed whiles on stage at a global entertainment event held at the Black Star Square in Accra. Thousands of patrons were at the venue to witness the Global Citizen festival which had a number of local and international artistes performing.

When it was the turn of the President to make his presentation, a section of the crowd began clapping and chanting ‘away, away…”

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) after this incident issued a statement blaming the opposition NDC for inciting its supporters to embarrass the president.

Reacting to this allegation in an interview with Happy98.9FM’s Don Kwabena Prah on the ‘Epa Hoa Daben’ political talk show, George Opare Addo said, “What happened was very humiliating but it has security implications. The NPP and security apparatus should be up and doing and stop accusing the NDC of orchestrating this. This was a musical concert and not a political party. I don’t know any leading member of the NDC who went for the programme.”

He mentioned President Akufo-Addo was losing popularity and advised him (President) to call for an early polls as his government had failed the people of Ghana.

According to George Opare Addo, boos from the crowd was from youth expressing disgust at a president who promised them heaven but gave them hell.
