Editor, Whatsup News, David Tamakloe, has disclosed, that some elements of the state are after his life.

Talking about what keeps him going as a journalist, he mentioned that despite all the risks that comes with the job, his love for the job keeps him going.

Speaking in an X space organized by Happy 98.9FM as part of World Press Freedom Day, he said, “I’m currently out of the country because some elements of the state have been threatening my life, hence I have to travel outside the country for a while”.

He believes, that as gate keepers of the public this is the job they have accepted to do.

“People have done this work before us and it is their toil that has liberated the media front, and that has perhaps liberated the entire country and given us the pleasure of speaking our minds and contributing to the building process, and of course guarding the rights of every Ghanaian.
This is what has kept me going,” he stated.

David Tamakloe is no stranger in having encounters with the state. Over the years, he has been arrested by state security apparatus for doing his work as a journalist.

For him, he believes press freedom is important and shares that press freedom, in as much as important, it must also come with the adherence of ethics.
