Ghanaian media is thriving and playing a vital role in the country, according to Wilberforce Asare, a political and legal editor at Asaase Radio.
He spoke during a discussion on Happy FM to commemorate World Press Freedom Day. He highlighted the diversity of Ghana’s media landscape, stating, “We have people who are focused on online writing, those who are focused on television broadcasting, and those who are reporting on pressing issues that concern the day-to-day life of the ordinary Ghanaian.”
He also acknowledged some challenges within the media, saying, “There are weeds that are growing among the plantations and those weeds give all of us a bad name.” He added, “We have people who are denting and painting the media fraternity as bad.”
However, Wilberforce Asare emphasized the important contributions of many journalists, stating, “We have excellent journalists who have contributed their quota to building a strong sector.”
