The Communications Director for Hearts of Oak, Kwame Opare Addo says the defeat to arch-rivals Asante Kotoko in Sunday’s President Cup will not affect the team ahead of the start of the 2019/20 Ghana Premier League.

Hearts of Oak threw away an early lead to lose the game by 2-1 to Asante Kotoko at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

Kofi Kordzi put the Phobians in the lead in the first half from the penalty spot. Asante Kotoko got the equalizer from an own goal few minutes later to end the first half.

Naby Keita got the winning goal for the Porcupine Warriors in the 64 th minute to retain the title they won two years ago. The game ended 2-1.

Speaking on Happy FM’s Anopa Bosuo Sports, Kwame Opare Addo said, “We don’t have to let the Kotoko defeat affect us going forward into the start of the Ghana Premier League.

“We are to play 34 matches and if this destabilizes us then it must know that we are out of the competition. We just have to pick the positives and be able to start the season well”.

“We must put it behind us and move forward to start the league very well. We must start well and protect ourselves very well”.

“Hopefully next time when we play against Asante Kotoko we will be able to get good results”, he added.

He also spoke on the conduct of the supporters as there were reports that Coach Kim Grant and CEO Frederick Moore were abused.

“It was expected because of the results of the game”.Hearts of Oak will begin their league campaign against Berekum Chelsea at the Accra Sports Stadium
