President John Mahama has emphasized the need for mechanisms that prioritize accountability, transparency, and value for money in governance.

According to him, these principles are essential to ensure that policies and programs translate into real change for the African people.

“ We must adopt mechanisms that prioritize accountability, transparency and value for money”.

Delivering the opening session of a retreat on the implementation of institutional reforms of the African Union, President Mahama highlighted the importance of maximizing resources for the benefit of all citizens.

President Mahama mentioned that, by adopting these mechanisms, the AU can enhance its effectiveness and credibility, ultimately leading to more sustainable development across the continent.

“Ensuring that every resource is maximized for the benefit of African people. One of the fundamental pillars of reform is AU’s financial autonomy”.

President Mahama stated, “the over reliance on external partners for funding compromises the organizations independence and ability to set its own agenda”.

“The implementation of Kigali’s decision on financing the union must be expedited. a self reliant African Union is not just a vision we have it is an imperative tool”, he stated.
