
President John Dramani Mahama, has reiterated his administration’s dedication to inclusive policy-making in education.
Speaking at the National Education Forum in Ho today, the president emphasized that the forum aims to fulfill his 120-day social contract with the people of Ghana.
According to the president, the current challenges facing the educational system in Ghana requires strategic priorities, fresh solutions derived from objective and nonpartisan interrogation of issues and a renewed sense of urgency.
“The moment to act together is here and now, we must use this forum to answer critical questions such as how do we ensure that every child in Ghana receives quality education regardless of where they’re born or live, how do we equip our schools and teachers with the necessary tools and resources to succeed in providing quality education to our children”.
“How do we ensure adequate and sustainable financing for education.
These and many more questions are the ones we expect you to focus on and answer us on the road map” he said.
The President called on all stakeholders government officials, policymakers, educators, traditional leaders, religious groups, and development partners to work together in a spirit of “shared responsibility” for education reform.
President Mahama also pledged that the government would focus on enhancing teacher education, improving infrastructure, advancing education technology, and fostering strategic partnerships to support learning.
