President John Dramani Mahama has dismissed Charles Kraikue from his position as Director-General of the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA).
In an official statement dated April 2, 2025, the President’s Secretary, Dr. Callistus Mahama, instructed Kraikue to hand over his responsibilities to Stephen Wilfred Arthur, who has been appointed Acting Director-General.
“I write to formally inform you that the President of the Republic has terminated your appointment as the Director-General of the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority, effective immediately. You are directed to hand over your duties to Stephen Wilfred Arthur, who shall act as the Director-General of the Authority,” the statement reads.
While the statement did not specify the reason for Kraikue’s dismissal, it comes amid an ongoing restructuring of key government institutions.
Dr. Mahama conveyed the President’s gratitude for Kraikue’s service and expressed confidence in Arthur’s ability to oversee operations and ensure a smooth transition at the authority.
