Minister for Works and Housing, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, has commended the Akufo-Addo administration for prioritizing housing for security services, a feat he claims no other government has achieved since Ghana’s independence in 1957. He pointed out that the current administration has constructed 1,000 housing units for security agencies since 2017, addressing their long-standing housing challenges.

Oppong Nkrumah highlighted the 1,072-unit TDC Affordable Housing Project at Kpong, which is nearing completion. This project, initiated in 2019, demonstrates the government’s commitment to affordable housing.

He highlighted that the Ministry of Works and Housing is also working to expand affordable housing nationwide. In a significant development, Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has donated 200 acres in the Ashanti Region for the development of affordable housing units. This collaborative effort between the government and traditional leaders aims to address Ghana’s housing deficit and provide decent living conditions for citizens.

Oppong Nkrumah emphasized that these initiatives demonstrate the Akufo-Addo administration’s unwavering commitment to improving the lives of security personnel and citizens. By prioritizing affordable housing, the government aims to promote social stability, economic growth, and national development.
