President Akufo- Addo has commissioned the Western Regional Forward Operating Base (FOB) at Ezinlibo in an effort to protect the country’s territorial and maritime integrity.
Speaking during the commissioning, President Akufo- Addo said the Forward Operating Base is part of his government’s commitment to securing the country’s resources and ensure peace and stability.
“This facility symbolizes progress, security and national resolve. It enables the Navy to act swiftly and precisely in protecting our maritime interests”.
According to him, the strategically located base will enhance the Navy’s capacity to combat piracy, illegal fishing and other security threats in the Gulf of Guinea.
The president also mentioned that, the Forward Operating Baseline will serve as a logistics hub to enhance operational readiness and facilitate training.
He commended the Nzema Traditional Council for the role in providing the land for the project, which goes a long way to safeguard the country’s security.
Ezinlibo joins a network of Forward Operating Bases across the country, including Tilli, Bui, Sankore and Kenyase.
